BIO

Willow Dubose is a creative artist that strives to develop a space in which our energetic body in correlation to human nature is prioritized through movement. She explores this through improvisation scores and through forward thinking teaching exercises. As a Booker T .Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts alumni, Willow has had the opportunity to perform works by artists such as Peter Chu, Banning Bouldin, Azure Barton and Kyle Abraham. She has been honored as a YoungArts finalist and award winner, as well as a Presidential Scholar at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she currently trains. Here, she has performed works by Robert Moses and Margo Sappington. As she moves forward with her career, she will continue exploring the creative space in collaboration with other artists, while developing her concepts on how energy is embodied through the expression of  movement.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As an artist, I aspire to create a safe space for the strength that comes with emotional vulnerability, unapologetic ambition and genuine curiosity to find the intention behind our actions-- inside and outside of the studio. As I continue to expand my field of work, I aim to provide a perspective of sensitivity through transparent communication, the posing of questions and the clarity of my intentions within a collective process.  Moving forward, this approach will help to implement a greater sense of unity and genuinity within the dance community.
